Not unusual: Just make sure your dad doesn't operate any machinery or try to drive a car. Drive him to his MRI appointment and he should be properly sedated for the exam. Don't let him drive for the remainder of the day.

Sedatives usually: Make the patient act or appear drunk. Alcohol could be considered a sedative as well. We usually use diazepan (valium) but Lorazepam is also often used if a patient is anxious for his MRI study.
