A 32-year-old member asked:
what at-home treatments are there for strep throat?

Not Really Any: If strep throat is documented through a rapid antigen swab or throat culture, there is no homeopathic or home remedy cure. Antibiotics are absolutely necessary to prevent any risk of complications, no matter how remote the chance. Rheumatic heart disease, for example, may cause permanent heart damage. Home treatments for pain such as tea with honey, gargling cold liquids, etc may help.

Strep throat: The at home treatment for a sore throat not strep is a salt water gargle and hot tea. However, if you are experiencing fever, increasing difficulty swallowing or pain with swallowing, you should not continue to try home remedies, you probably need an antibiotic, go to your primary medical doctor or an ENT for help.

Yes.: Strep usually affects the upper throat; vocal cords are lower, and people who lose voice with strep usually have an abscess in their neck from the strep infection - or laryngitis, which is a different (viral) infection altogether.

Yes: But why is unknown. Whether they are somehow never exposed or have great natural immunity is not clear. It is thought that these folks do get strep infections, but so mild they have little or no symptoms.
