Laws are different: Depends where you live and what his living will says, or if he has one. The dnr would've kept him from being intubated but once it's in, removing it is different. The docs won't just pull it, it requires a decision from his medical power of attorney. Now that he's intubated, you'll need a thorough discussion with his physician as to his likelihood for recovery and overall plan.

May have issues. : Since he has been intubated, removal of ET tube may bring up moral, ethical, religious, as well as legal issues. Best to to to your doctors, or the legal department of the hospital.
