It depends: A lot depends on the clinical course to date - ie frequency an severity of pancreatitis and/or pain. I would make sure to be evaluated at a tertiary care center with a dedicated pancreas center/division.

Pancreatitis : If you have recurrent episodes of pancreatitis, then you need ercp. It is crucial that you select somebody skilled in pancreas diseases management and ERCP skills.
