Many reasons.: Perhaps the iud has caused chronic endometritis and/or erosion into your myometrium. Other causes: weight gain may be leading to anovulatory cycles and endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial polyps, fibroids may have developed in the past two years, or you may be taking some medication now that contributes to this (e.g. Ssris for depression inhibit platelets and can make your period heavy/painful.
