Polio: Polio is caused by a virus that damages the nervous system. The best "cure" is vaccination to prevent the disease. Once the infection is started, there is no specific treatment. Supportive treatment for the symptoms related to this disease will be needed. Once the damage is done, there is no "cure.".

Immunization: World wide use of polio vaccines has come close to eradicating polio from existence. There is no treatment for the disease but the vaccines can prevent the infection from occurring. Once the disease has occurred the nerve damage that has occurred can be rehabilitated. It is very important that all children get immunized. The vaccines have saved millions from severe disease and disability.
