Depends: In a young person, either viruses or pregnancy can cause cardiomyopathy in a young person. In rare cases, rheumatic heart disease with severe valve disease can cause cardiomyopathy, but that is extrememely rare except in people from central america or 3rd world nations where antiobiotics are hard to get. Otherwise, congenital heart disease can cause cardiomyopathy.
