Is it offensive to give your friend who suffers from arthritic psoriasis a highly emollient lotion?

Biologics: No it is not offensive but an emollient lotion is not effective. Talk to your friend about the use of biologics such as enbrel, humira, Remicade (infliximab) as these medications treat both skin lesions and arthritis.
