Not necessarily: Brachial radiculitis can come from cervical disc herniations or narrowing around nerve canal. Lifting weights or contact sports causing neck strain may increase your risk of nerve pressure from disc bulge or neck bone spurs. Many people will get cervical arthritis or degenerative changes naturally as they age and in some cases this can allow disc herniations or bone spurs that aggravate nerves.
