I was born with a bleeding disorder, should i regularly see a specialist?

Depends: One percent of folks have mild von willebrand's disease and this usually require no treatment. There are literally hundreds of bleeding disorders, some common, some not, and your primary care physician and your own common sense can be your guide.

Probably not: Since you are a female, i'm guessing you have von willebrand's disease, probably type 1. Some patients with this are quite affected, others have few symptoms. Women often have problems with heavy periods. If you have made it to age 41 and are asking the question, i'm guessing that your disease has been fairly mild. It's more important now that you have a good relationship with your primary doctor.
