Depends on job...: If you can work with one arm, than you don't have to take any time off of work. A properly immobilized fracture should feel fairly comfortable within a week or two. If you need to perform rigorous activity with the broken elbow, you may have to wait for bony healing in 6-8 weeks. Full function of the extremity may take 6 months or more to return, depending on the severity of the fracture.
