A member asked:

After one ankle sprain, is it easy to get more?

Yes: Each incident causes stretching of the tendon and ligaments and makes it easier to have more.

Sometimes: If the ankle sprain was a bad one, the ligament could of stretched and as a result it would not be as strong and hence making it more susceptible for another injury.

Yes: After an ankle sprain the ligaments are stretched and more susceptible to reinjury. There may also be a loss of proprioception, which is the ability to know where your body is in space. These two factors contribute to recurrent ankle sprains. Strengthening and proprioception exercises help to prevent recurrent injury. See a board certified orthopaedic surgeon for persistent problems.

Yes.: Every time you sprain your ankle, you stretch out the soft tissues that help hold the ankle together, so it becomes prone to repeated sprains. The way to prevent that from happening, is to strengthen the ankle up , after a sprain.
