No, not unusual: Irregular periods aren't normal but are common. They are caused by lack of ovulation which can be caused by many things. Hormone abnormalities like thyroid problems and pcos are some of the more common ones. Stress, being overweight or underweight, excessive exercise and illness can all disrupt periods. If you're not either trying to get pregnant or worried that you are, it's not a problem.

Probably normal : It sounds like your periods are getting farther apart. This could be normal for you, or could be from: stress , weight loss, menopause, too much exercise, thyroid. Many women will get a couple of delayed periods, and then return to more regularity (21-36 days is considered normal)..
