I'm 5 weeks pregnant with a horrible sinus cold. tylenol (acetaminophen) wasn't touching it. i had to take advil. is advil ok for extreme cases like this? duration?

Probably: We don't have good data to tell us whether advil (ibuprofen) is a problem early in pregnancy. It may interfere with ovulation and implantation since it decreases prostaglandins that are necessary for these processes. There aren't any specific birth defects associated with early use. Use in the final 6 weeks of pregnancy can cause changes in blood flow in the heart and cause damage.

Maybe: These days, it is recommended to avoid nsaids in the first trimester. If you take it for a couple of days, it should be fine, but only as long as necessary.
