Simple to diagnose: While i can't be sure without examining you, a likely cause could be that your eyes are simply drying out while your sleeping. Many people actually don't close their eyes completely when sleeping....Ask someone to check while you are sleeping. There is another cause related to older corneas that get swollen with prolonged sleep, but this is a more complicated diagnosis.
