ALS: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or lou gehrig's disease is a degeneration of upper and lower motor neurons. The symptoms include weakness of the upper arms and legs. Often the muscles will appear to move under the skin like a bunch of worms. The diagnosis is made with an EMG, a lumbar puncture and an MRI of the brain and spinal cord.
