How often does a ct without contrast miss a brain tumor in a baby or child?

Not sure, but.....: It is possible to miss a brain tumor, especially when contrast is not used. That is true in a baby, child or adult. The tumor breaks down the blood/brain barrier and contrast passes this barrier around the site of the tumor. Some tumors exert enough mass effect on surrounding structures or generate brain swelling and can be detected without contrast.
