Depends: Most surgeons use long acting anesthetics wnen removing wisdom teeth. Novocaine is no longer used in dentistry. Lidocaine is the most often used local anesthetic in restorative dentistry and lasts about 2-3 hours. Bupivicaine and etidocaine can last 5-8 houts if given during wisdom tooth removal.
