Are strokes always detectable on a ct scan?

No: A stroke may take 24-72 hours to be detected on a head ct. Mri is more sensitive in detecting strokes earlier, so if the clinical symptoms are quite strong and the ct head is negative, an MRI may be ordered afterwards.
