Combination of drugs: There is no one best treatment for post herpetic neuralgia.It is treated with pain meds from non narcotic to opoid(narcotic)pain killers.Antidepressants, anticonvulsants like Neurontin or lyrica, (pregabalin) capsaicin and Lidocaine skin patches as the pain is variable from patient to patient from mild to excruciating pain, so is the treatment.There is no single best treatment for all.
