What is ipecac syrup used for?

See below: To induce vomiting. It was once recommended to have in case of accidental ingestions. However, it is no longer recommended.

It's not: It was once a common medicine chest addition if you had a young kid. Studies eventually showed it was often used wrong, inducing vomiting when it actually made things worse.After a while it was just the OTC drug of choice of people who liked to barf and it was removed from the marketplace.
