A member asked:

Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) for high cholesterol? does it help?

Yes and no: It helped a little in lowering cholesterol but had no effect on adverse cardiac outcomes. So, as far as effectiveness of the drug is concerned, it did not prove to be successful.

It does help.: Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a combination of Simvastatin and ezetimibe. Simvastatin lowers cholesterol by decreasing the livers production of cholesterol. And ezetimibe impairs dietary cholesterol absorption. In studies vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol levels by 45 to 60%.
