Depends: Sperm exposed to air, deposited on clothing, bed linens, skin, for example, dry out very quickly and die, usually within minutes. Sperm sample collected in a sterile container at body temperature may remain alive for hours. Sperm can live in cervical mucous for up to 3-5 days. This is why pregnancy is possible after unprotected sex up to 3 days before ovulation occurred.
