A member asked:

How long after death would a person's body start to decay?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At once: Decomposition begins as soon as circulation stops. Discoloration is usually visible on the abdomen by around 18 hours, sooner with a hot environment or fever. We pathologists have been only moderately successful in correlating stages of decomposition with actual time of death. Hope this helps -- cherish life.
