Smoking: The current high risk group is people who have a greater than 30 pack year smoking history (packs/ day x years smoking) within 30 years. At your age if you currently smoke your are at risk and the more you smoke the higher the risk.

See below: Smoking and family history are the two greatest risk factors. Also some occupational exposures but you are young, so that is unlikely. If you are worried, go get yourself checked.

High risk patients: High risk patients are those who are heavy active or former smokers (30 pack years or the number of packs/day times the number of years smoking) and age greater than 50. Those patients may benefit from a screening low dose chest cat scan.
