Check for diabetes: High blood sugars can cause blurring of vision. Dehydration and weakness can also be symptoms. I'd recommend checking with your medical doctor asap to get a blood sugar check.

They are the same: The question is: what do you mean by eyesight deterioration? If you mean deterioration of the eye or one of its components, then yes, it could lead to loss of vision. But eyesight deterioration - like vision loss - is a symptom rather than a cause of a problem.

No: Glasses are designed to improve the focus of the eye and improve clarity. Sometimes patients who start wearing readers feel that their near focus becomes more difficult and to a certain extent this is true. But eventually, readers become essential whether glasses are used initially or not.

A 37-year-old member asked:

What can cause a child to go from good eyesight to needing glasses?

2 doctor answers6 doctors weighed in
Dr. Clement Cheng
Ophthalmology 21 years experience
Few different causes: There are a few main things that can cause a child to need glasses. Children should be examined when they are younger to establish a baseline measurement. With normal growth of the eye during childhood, a refractive error (such as nearsightedness) can develop. Also some children can develop strabismus, which is when the eyes don't align properly. Glasses can help these conditions.

A 33-year-old female asked:

I read over exertion can lead to slight elevation of platelet due to dehydration. How come fasting for 12 hours doesn't affect platelet count result ?

Dr. Gerry Tolbert

Depends : Traditionally, fasting for bloodwork does not require you to not drink water. In fact, you're encouraged to drink water in order to maintain normal hydration while you are restricting other electrolytes and sugar which could cause aberrant values. Technically the dehydration cause by refraining from liquids may potentially be sufficient to falsely elevate both the hematocrit and the platelet count.
