A member asked:

I have seen a dr for numbness on the left side of my face and a numb feeling in my eye? they think this could be the results of a stroke. my mother had a benign tumor removed in 1985 . could this be hereditary?

Rule out neuroma: If this has come on slowly, it is suggestive of tumor rather than stroke. In your case, i'm thinking of benign acoustic neuroma which does run in families. Ask your physician whether imaging is appropriate.

Do you have a tumor?: If your symptoms are persistent, even if neurologic examination is normal, you should probably have head-brain imaging. Don't speculate--get facts.
