Cycle day 24 or 25: If you have regular periods q 28 days, ovulation and conception would occur around day 14. It takes the fertilized egg another 6-7 days to reach the uterus and implant itself and another 3-4 days to make detectable levels of b-hcg, therefore it would be 10-12 days after conception or cycle day 24-26 to get a positive test. Labs can vary, but an HCG level above 25 is considered positive.

Pregnancy test: Conception occurs within day or so of the sex. It takes about 3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG for a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.
