Probably Nothing: Smoking is not really a cause of crohn's disease. However, it certainly does not help crohn's and can only harm your health in other ways more in the long run. I would recommend quitting smoking as soon as possible. Especially with a DX like crohns there are many methods to do so. Please see your doctor if you need help with quitting..It is one of the best ways to help prolong your life and health.

Increased risk: Several studies have found that smokers are more likely to develop Crohn’s disease compared to non-smokers. Mechanisms for how smoking affects Crohn’s disease have been proposed, but these studies don’t mean that smoking *causes* Crohn’s disease. Crohn’s disease’s causes are largely unknown but may include genetic, environmental, and immune factors. Who knows if smoking triggers any of those.
