4 drugs then 2: The usual treatment is with 4 drugs (isoniazide, rifampin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol) for 2 months, then 2 drugs (isoniazide and rifampin) for 4 more months. However, the treatment can vary depending on what part of the body is affected, resistance patterns of the bacteria, and whether you develop toxicity to any of the drugs.
