Complex: Bulimia nervosa is a complex illness that can have very serious consequences. In short, it is a condition where a person eats, commonly binge eats large amounts of food with a sense of no control over the food intake, and then engages in compensatory mechanisms to try to eliminate that food from their body. The effects of bulimia can range from metabolic problems, to organ damage to tooth decay.
