How long does it take to recover from tendon transfer surgery?

8 weeks: Typically being in a cast for 4-8 weeks, and then physical therapy with a total recovery of approximately 2-3 months depending on the type of tendon that is transfered. It is important to discuss this fully with your surgeon.

Tendons : After a tendon transfer thre is a 2-3 moth period that is needed, in the initial post operative period the tendon must be protected . Then motionis intiaieted in a rotected fashion and finaaly there is a phase for use and slow gentle strengthening. Even after the 3 month point there is still recovery. Of course this depends upon the location, the , the nature of the tendon junction as well.
