Now: Very difficult to give a good answer to this question as asked; the whole concept of 'low-level' or 'sub-clinical' pid is controversial. Your absolute best answer is this: if pid is suspected it should be tested now, and if found it should be treated now. This eliminates any guessing and keeps harm to an absolute minimum.
