Now: Very difficult to give a good answer to this question as asked; the whole concept of 'low-level' or 'sub-clinical' pid is controversial. Your absolute best answer is this: if pid is suspected it should be tested now, and if found it should be treated now. This eliminates any guessing and keeps harm to an absolute minimum.

Depends : It is difficult to say who will get infertility after pid - of course the sooner it's caught - the better but even when it's caught early it can still cause problems.

My advice would be to see your OB/Gyn if you have this issue and have concerns; especially if you are trying to conceive.
