Depends: In many just splint but if the displacement is severe it may require pins.This requires consultation with orthopedics.

Usually a cast: A boxer's fracture is a fracture of the fifth metacarpal neck. When these fractures are significantly displaced >40-50•, they need treatment. A closed reduction in the office followed by casting for3-6 weeks is adequate treatment. When the alignment can't be improved or the bone is unstable, we will pin the fracture. See a board certified orthopaedic hand specialist.
