Can rhinovirus be deadly?

If immunosupressed: Rhinovirus ("rhino-" = nose) strains are the most common cause of the common cold, but in people who are severely immunocompromised (notably bone marrow transplant recipients in the critical days), it has caused fatal pneumnias.

Not usually: Rhinovirus is one of the most common viruses associated with the common cold. Healthy individuals can clear this virus with their immune responses. Chronically ill people are often immunocompromised, and a simple and common virus such as rhinovirus could have its way in a weak immune system, thereby leading to pneumonia and death. This is unusual.
