A member asked:

Can multiple sclerosis have an affect on the lungs?

Not the lungs: Ms effects the mylein of nerves which is usually in the brain and spinal cord. In theory is could effect the centers of the brain stem that control breathing but the lungs themselves should not be effected.

No: Ms typically does not affect the lungs.

Not directly: Lungs become an issue during periods of terminal disability and debility, when terminal pneumonia occurs. Usually, potent disease modifying agents prevent this outcome, but not always. But early in the disease, internal organs are invariably spared.
