Possible: If you are going to an endemic area, you can have your doctor prescribe prophylactic medication and start taking it before you go there, keep taking it while you are there and one week more after returning from there, you should wear long sleeves , mosquito repellent, use mosquito net over your bed when you go to sleep, avoid swampy area, standing waters ( more info in cdc wedsite).

Attack mosquitos: Malaria is spread by the bite of infected mosquitos. This only occurs in areas in which the disease is endemic. Prevention is by mosquito nets, ingestion of antimalarial agents and insect poisons. Current research is designed to identify a way to breed mosquitos resistant to malaria to prevent spread and to develop a proper vaccine against malaria.
