Plantar Fibroma??: Could be a plantar fibroma. There are conservative therapies (agressive stretching, accomodative inserts, icing, medications) and also surgical removal. See your foot/ankle specialist to be certain. Good luck! dr d.

Could be a: Small ganglion or a plantar fibroma if under the skin. Have it checked out to determine its exact nature and to deal with the reason it is painful.

Many possibilities: Some causes of painful “knot” may include: bony overgrowths, soft tissue masses, ganglions, fibromas, and cysts. Have it evaluated by a professional to get the right diagnosis.

Knot so Fast.: You must consider two things . Is the knot located in a weight bearing or non-weight bearing area of the foot. Does the knot have normal soft skin covering it or calloused skin covering it. These choices can mean the difference between fibroma, porokeratoma, foreign body, wart or an intractable callous caused by pressure. And you thought it was just a knot. Go figure.
