Nail Avulsion: Have her seen by your podiatrist to make sure there is no infective process... Pain will diminish in a few days and the nail will regrow.

Rinse the area: With some peroxide, put a little topical antibiotic on it and cover with a band aid with a non-stick pad. It will feel better as the nail bed dries out. The only other thing i can suggest to ease her pain is to take her out for a little ice cream :-).
