A member asked:

Leukaemia-- do you get that disease is acquired or is born with and "programmed" to develop it later?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cell division : Leukemia is a defect in the cellular line of cells in your body that make blood components. Mostly it is due to an undetected (by the body's immunodefence system) mutation in the cellular line which is a random event. Some are caused by certain influences like radiation and ingested chemicals increasing that chance for error. It can occur at any age and there is no known pre-programming.
