See below: A lot of people are misinformed about organ donation and organ transplants. There is a lot of bad information spread on the internet and by mouth. However, when faced with there own situation, they may then fully understand the process of organ donation and transplantation. So, i don't think their previous position/belief should be held against them.

Be open minded: It is always best with any new health problem (for you or your children) to discard your prior bias and listen to the information you are being offered. You should be encouraged to learn about the new disease/problem and then empowered to make an informed decision. This would require you to be open minded enough to recognize that what you previously "heard" or "thought" might not be accurate.
