How long after having novacaine for a dental filling can you drink beer?

As soon as you want : Novocaine should not interact with beer so you should be able to have a cold one as soon as you want. The only problem may be dribbling the beer down your chin.

Right away: You can drink alcohol right away without it affecting anything if all you got was a "novocaine" shot. I put novocaine in quotes because dentists have not used novocaine since the 1970's but are using other anesthetics instead (a lot like calling all antibiotics penicillin).

Whenever: As soon as you are sure that you won't accidentally bite your lip, tongue or cheek or dribble on yourself. We usually recommend that you wait until all numbness is gone before you eat especially, although you can't rule out an accident or a mess even with liquids.

Depends: Once your feeling comes back, you can successfully drink without spilling it on yourself. It will not hurt the filling.

Novocaine: Side effects of Novacain include feeling dizzy or drowsy, anxious or restless, and it cause nausea or vomiting. It can also cause trembling, shaking and convulsions. Alcohol can worsen these symptoms. Before drinking, you should give your body ample time to eliminate anesthetics from your system. Usually give it away or so for this to happen.

Wait: Until it's worn off before eating or drinking. You might injure your mouth tongue or lips while they're numb.
