Safe but: If going on a short trip < 2-3 weeks, only reasons to get Rabies Vaccine is (& this are reasonable) if getting bitten or scratched would require evacuation to location where rabies globulin is available. Having rabies series allows you to skip rabies globulin & just have more rabies vaccine--but you still need more attention and vaccines if bitten. On short trip, careful avoidance might be enough.

Rabies vaccine: How long are you going? Where are you going? What will you be doing? For the most part, the CDC tends to recommend Rabies vaccines for specific reasons like: If engaging in outdoor activities like camping or hiking. Working near animals (veterinarians or wildlife professional). If children are young & might touch unknown animals.
