How do you know: That liver is clean? Ast may be elevated due to injury to muscle, including heart muscle and red cell lysis. But the commonest cause of elevated ast is liver injury. What is your alt level? You may need to have additional liver function tests done to ensure that liver is really "clean". Please consult your doctor.
