Oral meds: Although they have been largely replaced by inhalers, methylxanthine products like theophylline are still available for use as a pill. These are bronchodilator products that are taken daily & have many side effects ( it is a cousin of caffine). Oral steroids are also used occasionally but send it everywhere instead of just to the lungs. Again side effects can add up.Discuss with your dr.

In addition...: To oral medications, i'd add avoiding things that could make your asthma flare up: smoke (of any type), dirt, dust, mold, pollen, chemicals, etc. If you're working outside during the day, make sure you shower off at night time before you get into bed to wash any allergens off.
