Nothing is free in l: Although safer blood ages & old blood can cause reactions , the older the less oxygen can still carry certain rare infections & cause reactions. Blood can be immuno supressive & decrease your defenses & worsen a present infection or caiuse a mayor reaction & reven heart failure & lung damage.

Avoid undue risk: Blood is safe and should be given if needed. Infectious risks are very small. Reactions can occur with blood, and are more common than infection transmission. But blood should only be given to those who need it. There is no reason to encounter risks that are not countered by a measurable benefit.
