N-P Disease: Niemann–pick disease refers to a group of fatal inherited metabolic disorders. This disease is a form of sphingolipidosis, as it involves dysfunctional metabolism of sphingolipids. Sphingolipidoses, in turn, are included in the larger family of lysosomal storage diseases (lsds).
