How do you treat bacterial folliculitis?

Infxn, pigmentscarsd: The treatment depends on the cause and if active infection versus inflammation. For active infection topical antibiotics may be usefui but the nature of the scars such as hyperpigmentation scars may benefit from peels and bleaching agents whereas raised scars or irregularities may respond more to resurfacing procedures. Ongoing folliculitis may respond to salicylic acid to minimize future scarrin.

Folliculitis.: Despite the fact that folliculitis is technically a bacterial infection of the follicles, we can often treat acute folliculitis with a simple warm soak to the area (warm water on a washcloth and applied for 15 minutes at a time, 2 to 3 times a day). If this does not help, one could try antibacterial creams, available over-the-counter.
