What does an open vs. closed cervix feel like? how should it feel before menstruation?

Like tip of nose: The cervix is made up of thickened tissue composed of smooth muscle and collagen. It can best be described as feeling the tip of your nose. Except for pregnancy, the cervix is normally not dilated. The natural opening is called the cervical os and does slightly dilate during menses ;however, not enough to feel an appreciable difference. Some cervixes are midposition, some towards top or bottom.

Cervix: You aren't likely to feel anything with the tissue of the cervix itself throughout your menstrual cycle. The cervix does not dilate in the same manner as pregnancy when you are having your menstrual.
