Can marihuana effects the liver?

Yes: The few studies available using unadulterated marihuana appear to show no liver effect. However, street marijuana often contains other adulterants which may have significant effect on liver function. Here, there are no placebo controlled studies.

MJ-No, Additives-YES: The definitive study done by kaiser permanente found no significant differences in the health records of pot smokers versus people who did not smoke pot. It has shown the ability to speed up fibrosis in patients with hepatitis c, but there is no evidence of stand-alone liver damage in healthy patients. However, marijuana is an unregulated drug. Additives to mj can be very damaging to the liver.

Most definitely: Found a study showing increased liver damage in marijuana users with chronic hepatitis c viral infection. So, the potential for liver damage exists, possibly in all users of cannabis.
